Watch Hill Adapter

Need to add, that most of the slips are 50A 125 not 250, hence the name “Watch Hill Adaptor”. So a twin 30 or a single 30 will need a 50/125 single or twin adaptor. However there are some slips on D dock that are 50/250. I know Rob, John and others have those slip #’s memorized.
 
Any idea if they've made any wider slips this year at Watch Hill?

I have an adapter so I can use my 30amp cord if a 50/250 is not available.
 
I always thought a good " Watch Hill " adaptor would be a " Y " adaptor of.... 1-50A/125V ( male ) to 2-30A/125V ( female )....so you can run 2- 30 amp cords to the boat.....just IMHO.
 
The adapters were still available for rent last season. They were about $7.00 a day.
That Marinco 110A on ebay looks like a pretty good deal. I bought a new one on line a few months back for about $100. I watched ebay for several months before I ordered a new one and a 110A never came up.
 
I happen to have a 50/125 to 2 30amp Y adapter. I just use one 30amp leg since my boat can take one 50/250 or one 30. I had the adapter from the last boat. I gave the buyer the 50/250 Y with the boat and kept this one in case I ever needed it.

This will be my first trip to Watch Hill but I can tell you that in 6 years, I never encountered a marina with 50/125 service.

Welcome to the national park service . They even made watchwill reinstall this b/s when they renovated the docks .

I have a 2 30amp to 1 30amp adapter that I use when I get to a marina that can't give me 2 30amp outlets. Then I have a 30 amp to 50 amp adapter. When I go to Watch Hill, I use both adapters to get from 2 30 amps to 1 50 amp. So I sort of have what you say, but my setup is more flexible. I have had to use the 30 amp splitter. Sometimes marinas, such as Champlains, can't get you 2 outlets! It works fine as long as I don't run too many things at once. I usually have to shut off the A/C to run the microwave.
 
Dave......That works.....just one extra adaptor to carry that way. The Y adaptor that Mark has is the way to go.....for Watch Hill. If you split it at the( 50A ) power tower...you can run 2- 30A cords to the boat....you shouldn't have to juggle things.. If you split it at the boat.........you can only run 1- 30A cord....your limited.

Three inches will defintely limit you, at least that is what I have heard. :)

Sounds crazy, but the 50/125 was what was there last year. I'm not sure, but I think Sailor's Haven might be the same.
I actually bought two adapters a few months ago. The Marinco 110A for trips to Fire Island, and a 117A for trips to Tobay. Tobay has a good amount of 30 Amp slips, but they also have lots of 50 amp slips too.
Hopefully this year I'll be covered all around.

I don't split at the boat. I was told that is bad to try and run 50 amp thru a 30 amp cord. I run my two 30 amp cords to the dock, then I use my Y adapter to go to 1 30amp, then I use my 30amp to 50amp adapter to the pole. So I have 2 adapters plugged into each other. If I have 1 30amp socket at the pole, then I don't need the 30amp to 50amp adapter. It is not limited, it is flexible!

The Cherry Grove adapter is a zipper on the rear of your boat shorts!!

And yes, Sailor's Haven is 50amp service too.
Hoping to get there this year. Have not been there in 4 years!

Well, maybe not Walter, you gotta get out past the zipper for it to happen!
