Does anyone use a portable water softener/De ionizer for washing your boat and filling the water tanks. Our marina has horrible water that leaves large water spots and the taste leaves much to be desired. (Upper Chesapeake Bay)

Thanks

Greg

I use one of these when filling the tanks

I use a water softener and it works great. Leaves the boat with a cleaner shine. The water taste ok, but I don't really like soften water.

Brand name please.

I have seen them beside megayachts in Newport, RI, but never figured out what they were for.

I'm hauling in about a month and if I need one to spring clean / wax, and if the $ was right, I may be tempted to buy one.

TIA

I use a whole house type water filter that you buy from Lowe’s, Home Depot, etc. and mount it on my dock before going into the boat. It really cut down on smell and taste but we never really drink the water. As far as spots go, I chamois my boat after washing to avoid the water spots.
