Once the gelcoat is finished being wet sanded with 1500 paper what type of compound do I use to take out the scratches.

Try buff Magic. It's cheap to try and I bet you will be happy.

The 3M stuff works, but I've found BufF Magic really is magic. Easy to work with.

Not to hijack the thread RM, but after listening to you guys talk about buff magic in other threads, I'm going with it this year.

Ironically, I sanded some scratches out with 320 today, then followed with 1000 grit using a Black and Decker Mouse sander (light pressure). Would this be adequate as a prep for Buff Magic, or is a higher level (1500) grit required?

Give it a try, I bet it works. If it doesn't hit it with the 1500 and the buff it out.

It worked! I worked it over with 3M Marine wax for Highly oxidized surfaces and it looks like new. Thx!
