Hey Jonathan, are you using the white or pink Buff Magic? I did a '96 Silverton today and found myself using more of the white product than when I used the pink. Went over it with Leverage and the reflection was crystal clear.

Read a lot about it on offshoreonly.
Plan to give it a try this season.
I have been using Meguiar's Flagship ,but I find it collects a lot of dirt.
It only holds up about 2 months before I have to apply again.
Do you prefer Leverage or Pro-Polish and why.

IMHO, if you have been in the sun for a year, you have oxidation. Slight, yes, but it exists. The nice thing about buff magic is it is very mild and the heat from the buffer opens up the gelcoat pores and allows it to do its' job at a more minute level getting out grit that has had a chance to be ground into the surface by wind, waves, sun reflection, etc...
Mrs Robinson is 4 years older than Saint Max. Right now, she looks two years newer. The only caveat I would put on not using Buff Magic first is if you were under cover.

Eppy, I have just been using Leverage since last Fall, however one of the go-fast guys at our marina had it on his boat all last season and it held up very well. I have had it on a sailboat which is next to mine for the winter, and it has held up since I applied it in November. It is on his transom, so it is getting good exposure to the elements. I am using either Maxi-Clean or Buff Magic topped off with Leverage this Spring. I will be using Pro-Polish also at some point, but I am spoiled by the ease with which Leverage works. I am also continuously amazed at how the Leverage seems "slicker" two days after it has been applied.
I did try using Pro-Polish on a swim platform today as divedaddy had said, and it looked really good. It was a gritty non-skid surface so there was still traction. I know I would not try using Leverage in that situation. I did warn the owner of what was used and to see how the surface was when wet.
In essence I think we are seeing the results of some new technology working in our favor.

Well I finally got motivated ,So I dove in and shined the boat.I wanted to do it once and do it right .With a black hull I was hoping a little work now will save me work later.I did the combo platter,I washed the boat with yacht brite and rinsed with water and vinegar,used jelly blade to draw water off without spots.Next step was to use collinite 920 surface prep cleaner,apply and buff off.Then I moved on to westmarine polish,goes on easy comes off just as easy.Topped this off with a coat of collinite 885.Goes on easy and a little goes along way.Did in sections 9-12 square feet,then wiped off.Dont let it dry to much,much more difficult to remove.
Shoulders are sore,I will see how my back is in the morning,but it shines like a mirror,I know because I could see every bead of sweat on my brow and stripes of my Zubaz.If this last me the season up here in the frozen tundra ,then I will repeat next spring.

Johnathan, just about done with Buff magic and Pro Polish. I don't think my boat ever looked so good. I was starting to get some oxidation on the top sides---all gone now. I used a Maguires yellow foam pad with the diamond cut texture for the Buff Magic with my rotary buffer. No swirl marks at all. Thanks again. You can really "lay" on the buffer with the Buff Magic. Won't burn the gelcoat like other things I've used.
Greg, if you think the yellow pad from Meguiar's is good you should try a black or red pad from proper boat care, they will really bring out the shine. And why are you "laying" on your machine, the weight of the machine should be doing the work. Did you use the pink or the white Buff Magic? Congrats on the satisfying results [8D]
