My Lofrans Marlin windlass is seized and I can’t turn it one way or another. I need to replace the gypsy wheel and I’m uncertain which way to loosen the nut. The top of it says loose but shows a clockwise arrow. (See photos). Common sense tells me to turn it counterclockwise to loosen though. Any input would be greatly appreciated.

I would believe the arrow showing left hand thread(clockwise removal). With the strain during retrieval it makes sense to be left hand thread to prevent possible loosening of the cap.
