Can he do cockpit carpet ?

Looks nice walt. I want damn wood floor though
 
He can do the cockpit carpet, but you can get the same stuff he sells, online and a lot cheaper. He quoted me around $1,100.00 to $1,200.00 on line I can get it for $800.00 plus s/h. Now your boat should be a lot less money, I have the cockpit, stairs to the bridge and the bridge.

I got samples of the stuff in the mail a few days ago, same stuff that Golden is selling. Do a google for snapincarpet dot com.

PS, the stuff I am looking at does not have the rubber backing, it's that new type of backing, the only problem with my present carpet is the backing is falling apart, don't get the rubber backing.

Also,
you can send them your old carpet to use as a template, if you need the tubes to pack them in goe see tony from AMC, the canvas guy, I am sure he may have some tube he can five you.

Yes.......he hates to throw any scraps away......he also made me 4 throws....with binding around the ends.... for no charge. He is a class act.

Walter.....The product that Golden sells has no full rubber backing.....just strips of sealed/coated rubber. I had it now for 3 seasons .....never sticks to the cockpit floor.....even when its hot or wet. Good product.

I want wood floors too..........
 
very nice and good to see a roll of duct tape in one of the pics. no boat project is complete without it. btw, i've used snapincarepet.com for cockpit carpet in the past and they did a very nice job.
 
Walter.....looking at pictures # 2 & 6......you can see how anal he was to match the carpet pattern with the cut/bend for the engine hatch and keep it straight.......How did he fasten the carpet to the floor once he made the bend ??
Did he glue it or staple it ? Did he bind the ends ? Looks nice

Makes me want to do my rugs over too.............
 
Looks like they did a great job on the carpet. The carpet in the cabin of my 30' Sundancer needs to be replaced. I wonder what they would charge? I might have to give them a call and get a price.

I believe he glued, because he sanded off the old glue. Where he wraped the hatches it was stapled. he did not bind the ends where it was wraped.
 
Did you have the s/s ring pull thingys for the hatches ?? Did you eliminate them ?
 
To all those that want the wood flooring...I put it in mine 2 years ago...did it myself, it's not that hard and definately upgrades the look of the interior
 
Really great looking, Walter! Now I'm sufficiently depressed and realize that this will be my next thing to do on the boat after the canvas and cockpit carpet. New carpet really makes the boat look great. Good Luck.

I'd be interested to see what the wrapped hatch edges look like, if you could get a shot with them partially open some time. Was there a big gap there for it to fit into? It does look good.

My boat was carpeted (before I bought it) and just cut flush at the hatch edges, not bound, which was fine for a while but is starting to fray. Got to do something different if I have it redone. But I don't think there is room to wrap carpet down into the gaps, they fit tight. Maybe I don't understand how yours was done.

If I remember to bring a camera (not too likely but will try) next time I go down to the boat, I will snap a few pictures. If you would like to meet me at the boat I will show you.

"Was there a big gap there for it to fit into?" Sure was, really surprized me when I saw the gap, but if you think about you need a big gap to accommadate TWICE the thikness of the carpet. Which bring me to another point, when replacing the carpet, you need to go with the same thickness of carpet otherwise your hatches won't fit back into place.
