1998 3988 Bayliner has three wipers. Center arm end bracket broke but can seem to get the arm off the motor hub.
What's the trick?
Thanks
Carter

Under the arm there is usually a little catch. pull it away from the hub and the arm should release. If not it may just need some PB Blaster

Most auto parts stores sell a little tool just for that purpose. Costs about $7 and saves
a lot of skin, gouges and bad words. I went for years without one and now don't know how
I ever got along with out it!

Thanks Paul and Pete

Pete, you're right. I couldn't find a catch, or spring release but... The spring holds the yoke of the arm at an angle to the spline of the motor. Which, if you can't release this tension, creates the new volcabulary and need for Bactine. $7.00 is the easy way out.

Another tip. I used a heat shrink hot gun to heat the arm mount to about 900 deg F. That really helped to break the rusting weld it had formed.

Ha!! Ol' evil corrosion strikes again!

Happy to hear you were able to get it off without resorting to dynamite.
Now you know why ya wanna put a dab of grease on things that go together.

Keep the water on the outside and the joy in your heart,
Pete
