I used Woody Wax for the first time yesterday. I used it on the cockpit floor of my 32' express cruiser. It looks clean, white, with a nice shine. Problem is it's slippery! I tried to follow the instructions on the bottle, but maybe I applied too much Woody.
I first cleaned the floor, then while still wet I squirted the Woody to the floor and scrubbed it in with a hard bristle brush. I let it dry for about an hour, then went over it with several large towels.
Like I said it was still slippery 3 hours after I applied it. Will it dry further with time and get less slippery? Any suggestions? How do know how much Woody to apply? If it stays slippery how can I remove some of it so it isn't so slippery?

I used it for the first time this past week as well. I found that I used too much product and had to clean it off with dawn and do it again. I little bit goes a long ways. You should be able to do your entire cockpit with just a few sprays on your brush. It was easy to start over with about a nickel size dot of dawn dish detergent on the cockpit floor and a quick scrub.

The directions on the back state a completely different way to apply it. I apply it on my boat about once a month and its never slippery.

-Scrub the deck perfectly clean
-While the deck is still wet, squirt a few sprays on to a SOFT bristle brush and brush the product on LIGHTLY. A whole cockpit should only take 4 or 5 sprays.
-Just after the deck dries off, which should be in about 5 minutes not an hour hit it with a hard rinse of water on every square inch of the cockpit that it touched.
-Then wipe down the floor and dry it off.

We do the same, but never dry it off with towels,
1. wash boat
2. spray WW on and brush in throughly
3. let dry
4. rinse off.

nice results!

There is a non skid deck wax called Aroura Sure Step. Very non slippery after applied and lasts longer than Woody Wax.
Ours last a year per application, but we do keep her under a covered slip.

Almost anything will last a long time under a covered slip!

It lasts longer than Woody Wax.
The boat is 31 years old and still shines.
That is why we pay extra for a covered slip.
We want her to last a long time.
