Even though it's rainy today, I can't wait to get in the water! I'm still waiting for my shaft to be replaced. I waxed three weeks ago, bottom painted/zincs two weeks ago.

As a bonus, I did find a guy to shampoo my carpets today, he's doing interior and the cockpit carpets as well. He's one of those with the machine mounted on the truck.

I don't mean to vent on you guys but somehow, non-boaters just don't get-it.

I drove by the Newburgh marinas and half the slips were empty still. The ramp was mobbed with fisherman trying to get in.

The docks in Newburgh officially opened May 1st. I'm still not in but thats now my own fault. Hopefully I'll be in by the 17th.

Its colder up here :)

In? In what? My boat?....no! In the water?...Hell no! I know where my boat is and that at some point this year, it'll be in the water. Maybe I'll set a heading for 090, speed 30 kts and go til I run out of gas.

I'm in but still at Pennybridge (which is not a bad place to be!)They are putting a bigger TV in for me. Taking longer than expected.

Hopefully next year Steve will have a good slip for me before I have to pay Haverstraw my unrefundable payment for 2009. I think we are pretty much ready to bolt from the deep water slips to a smaller family type marina. And I just LOVE those wood docks!

Things are moving up here at RYB, we have been in a while now. But I can't believe how many boats there are on shore, that are going to stay on shore.
Parking is going to be a PITA this year.

Don't forget the great neighbors you will also have Judy!

We love hanging out with you guys!! And it's such a treat to be able to see your guests pull up to the marina whan they come to visit you on the boat. It's the little things........

Not in yet. Had to pull the motor, replace the flywheel cover, gimbal and shaft bearings and all of the related seals. Almost back together except the out drive which asked for new u joints, seals and a paint job. Fun, fun, fun. Much more of this and I will have a brand new 1979 boat. Spending all of my gas money on parts! Hope to be in and fishing within the week or so.

I'm in, but the boats aren't going anywhere until I finish my maintenance. I was up working on the Glastron today because I want to do some striper fishing next week, but I need another day up there to change some dry rotted hoses, the oil, etc...

The big boat is in the same predicament, but at least its functional as our "summer house" up there for now!!!

Yeah Pete, only Martinis belong on the rocks.

Well, I had sent an e-mail to the mechanic responsible for putting my shaft and prop back together a couple of days ago. Normally, he's very responsive but I didn't hear back. So this morning, I called the shop to get the message of doom "The shop is closed, we will re-open on Monday, May 12th.

WTF?!?! I wonder when the vacation started....what a time to take off. I'm really thinking of picking up a trailerable boat so I don't have to be stressed out by this crapola! I see alot of the big boys here already have gone that route and I can understand why!

Walshie, I was thinking the same thing about a smaller trailer boat.

I trailer my 24'er down to the marina in the spring and then back to the house every fall. Borrow my step-dad's 5 ton diesel to tow it the 14 miles each way.

Then I got to thinking about having to buy another boat, buy a tow vehicle. Gas for the tow vehicle, gas for the boat, time on the water reduced because of all the hassle..... it would actually cost more that way......

So keeping the old girl at the marina and doing what I do does not seem so bad after all. Too bad she isn't an older diesel that wouldn't mind a little bio diesel cocktail!

As they say, and has been said to us, "That's boating". Sucks eh?

"Pete, Watch out for the rocks!"

LOL, that would imply my boat will ever leave the !$%&^! dock. Then again, I dinged my prop 3 feet behind my dock at low tide last year. So for me, leaving the dock seems to be a dangerous proposition!!!

Then again, who needs to ever leave the dock where I am up there? You can swim, fish, and BBQ right there, and restaurants are within walking distance...

Today's the day I will be fixed...or so I am told. Keep your fingers crossed for me please.

Hope that helps!

As I scrolled into that image from the bottom up I was initially concerned :D. Glad to see it was crossed fingers instead of the boyscout salute.

Dan! I'm shocked you would even think one of us would be capable of such a juvenile act! ;)
