We had a nice meet with the folks and had a good tour of the boat. I hope their ride is comfortable to Cape May, Pascal mentioned he would go around and not do the Cape May canal, and then evaluate the run to AC.

Pascal,,, Barbara checked on the fleet in Norfolk, and the carrier was the Dwight D. Eisenhower. If you saw 2 the other was the Theodore Roosevelt, that was due in on May 14th.
 
Bruce, the side windows have film to cut down the heat, they're really grey but may come out blue on the cam.

a few drops of rain so far, most of the cells look like they are passign north.. we'll see.

Mike, today is sunday... not satruday! how far is that Seaview marina? dnt' want to run into any shallow sections from the inlet!

Yep, looks like its going to be OK. Just a bit wet.

Pascal, Seaview Village Marina is just inside Great Egg Harbor Inlet and to the north. Approximately 39.313N and 74.534W. Its south of AC in a town called Longport.

BTW, yea, its Sunday! Damn!

I just checked the wave information form one of the NOAA buoys near their current position. Wave height less than one foot with a 3 second period, winds under 10 knots, so they will be having a wet ride from the rain but the conditions are good for a smooth run down the Delaware. If they have radar and the plotter they should be able to have a good run today.

You probably already know this. There are only three inlets along the NJ coast that a boat the size of the one that you are on can safely traverse with confidence. They are: Cape May, Absecon (Atlantic City), and Manasquan (Brielle).

I've been through each numerous times over the years with a 60'er and would never have considered any of the others where having local knowledge is almost a requirement.

Keep an ear on the forecast for any wind prediction out of any of the Easterlies. If it blows hard from the NE, E, or SE, then you may be forced to stay in port for the duration. Again, I've been held-up many times with the Easterlies running, usually for 2 to 3 days, and once went when I should not have.

They can navigate Great Egg as well. If not, some better tell all those battlewagons at Sea View. If it were me I'd RON at South Jersey Marina and then make my way north in the AM or if he's intent on AC, Farley State Marina at Trump's house.... but, what the hell do I know... I'm boatless now!
 
I agree with you Mike. I'd secure for the night at South Jersey and have dinner at the Lobster House and call it a night, maybe Sunday night, then get out early in the AM.

Rethinking your earlier post about the inlets, you are right about having local knowledge... Great Egg may not be a good choice for Pascal considering the weather, time of day and the recent Nor'easter's possible impact on the inlet.

Pascal, do yourself and the crew a favor...Cape May Canal to South Jersey Marina for RON, fuel and the Lobster House! You won't regret it.
 
Agree, you must do the Lobster House if staying here in the Cape. Also the canal.
 
I boat out of Seaview and there is no problem with the inlet and matter of fact they are dredging the channels this year. My friend just brought his 45 ft sailboat which draws 7 ft up this weekend with no issues in the channel. Only issue you have is that some of the buoys were blown around due to the storm but the channels are still clear. Also Seaview Harbor's new restaraunt is open now so and its a beautiful marina with great views.
