Miami - Nantucket live on Webcam...

I'm just looking at a map (Microsoft MapPoint)that labels the area roughly between Staten Island and Sandy Hook National Park as The Narrows.
I'm assuming that they will enter NY Harbor past the Statue of Liberty and go up the East River to Long Island Sound, but that's just a guess. I'm not the captain of the ship!
I was wondering, too, about the speed they're making. Google Earth says 10+ knots (I've not seen it at 11), but based on the distance from Cape May, they're making very good time, and speed over ground has got to be over 10 by at least a knot or two.

At 4:23 PM they are off Monmouth Beach NJ. They had a speed over the ground of 11.1 Knots. Pacal has been cruising at about 10 knot for most of this trip. I think they have the benefit of a north bound tide at present.

And it is only 58F in Central Park at this hour going to 48F overnight.

Looks like they are fast approaching the Verrazano Bridge, now the scenery will get real patriotic! Keep your eyes peeled to port, maybe they will rotate the cam a few degrees when they pass the Lady....what a trip.....G

Pascal - Thanks for the ride!...I was born in NYC, but this is the first time I've been able to view the entry from the ocean..magnificent! This thread is addictive. Very nice Marina in the heart of the city...looks to be run by Dennis Conner.

The North Cove has a live webcam. Charmer is across the harbor to the left.

well, it's been a great day! long, but the landing in NY Harbor was worth the long run and the nasty chop. Once we left the shelter of the Jersey shore it got a little bumpy... just 3 footers but STEEP and CLOSE! again, took on heavy spray over the skylounge 
the weather cleared up nicely and we had ideal light coming in NY., couldn't have been better. The Enterprise, the Statue, etc... fantastic. There is so much history in this harbor, you feel it coming in the first time. Not seeing the Twin Towers also hits you as a reminder of teh times we live in.
We're are at the North Cove... Even thought he slip is very wide, backing in between a gorgeous classic woody and a 100' high tech racer with 25kts Xwind was a little intimidating but this boat handles beautifully.
North Cove is a fantastic location although not the best run marina I've seen... hard to get them to answer the phone and had to wait 45 minutes for a 100 to 50amp adapter... but ... location location location!
We're leaving a little later than usual tomorrow... probably around noon heading up the east river and into LIS. running 10 to 14 hours days for 2 weeks is a little tiring although i must say that running a skylounge boat is pretty nice!
Nancy left the boat tonight... something about work!!! and will join us on friday in Newport for the final leg to Nantucket.
