Hi everyone! Naomi here. I put down my glass of wine. Wait till you see this place in the morning light! It's so beautiful! We came into the marked anchorage but did a 180...not enough space to drop anchor. Then, went around the outer Thimbles and dropped there. Pascal can find an anchorage anywhere! A red moon is about to rise on the horizon. It's 45! My Floridian blood is curtling...I'm sleeping with my wine bottle for warmth...amongst someone else. Be sure to see these scenic little islands in the morning. And, yes, Toll House cookies indeed! You guys and gals are soooooo funny! Good night.
 
indeed, we're anchored off the outer Thimbles, on the east side. WOW! what a place... cant' wait to see it in the morning.

great run today, although wet and cold! reminds me of when i grew up in paris.... wet, cold that really gets you! forgot what it felt like. but this is late May, where is Al's global warming? :-)

the boat has 4 cameras: Engine room, aft deck, swim platform and foredeck that can be viewed on all the TVs, incl. the one in the skylounge as well as on one of the Furunos. I run with the ER cam on on the skylounge TV to keep an eye on things between my hourly ER visits...

as Naomi said, stay tuned in the morning, it's gorgeous out here!
 
Cedar Island Marina is in Clinton, very close to the Thimbles.

Further east at the mouth of the Conn River is Saybrook Point Marina, excellant amedities, further east is the Historic Mystic River home of the Mystic Seaport.

Pascalg, The area is indeed charming and the views are breattaking. As you progress into New Endland you will encounter even more of this beauty. Welcome to New England. Cold in May, now you know and understand why so many of us from new England retire to Florida. Born and raised in Mass,I never got use to the cold.

I was just wondering what the record number of views and postings are to a real topic, rather than the one that was generated to try to break the record about nothing.
This thread has got to be getting close to the record.
I for one will be archiving a lot of material from this topic for future reference as I plan to do the trip north and south from the Chesapeake in future years when both myself and my wife are retired.
 
The weather is supposed to get much better. Possible high 60's and sun when you arrive in Nantucket.
 
What a nice morning you have, if cold! It's about the same in Vermont . . . only colder! Enjoy the trip to Newport today. I will miss you by only a day or so there as we will be in RI on Sunday.

Cold! Hardly Pascal! Cold is fishing the North East in November in an open CC and you can't move your hands for a few hours!

What software do you use to send your image out? I am able to recieve the image at your website on my blackberry which is pretty cool. Was thinking I may have some usage for that. When I wanted to keep an eye on my dog I sent the cam signal thru yahoo but could only view it on a PC or notebook. Getting the image on a blackberry is good becuase I could watch him from anywhere I have cell service.

Based on the google earth file, I just missed Pascal passing my old home port by about 40 Minutes drats. Oh well... If I had been there I would have looked for him. Or maybe not if it is cold outside. Hopefully he will go up buzzards bay and I can get to check that out. Quick somebody hire Pascal again for another delivery !
 
I would guess that he will get under way today about noon as he should then have a tide with him up to 2 knots in some places instead of the same against him if he started earlier.
From the webcam pics that looks like a lovely area. Looking at the charts the anchorages inside the Thimbles only have perhaps a 200 foot radius for swing room. Real tight for a seventy footer when you have a five to six foot tidal range and water depths of 20 feet or more that shoal off fast to less than six feet with the odd rock here and there as well.
 
YA I need to correct me previous post. When I looked at google earth I saw he was at the thimbles. I didn't know he was anchored there until after I posted. I would have missed seeing him by much more than 40 minutes
 
The webcam seems to indicate you are underway, but Google shows you as still anchored ......
