South Shore Boating

Rob,
WTF..... that sucks,,,, the good thing is you found it and it is early in the season. My major concern would be Why This Happened?.... !!!!!!! It is what it is, but a repeat of this would not make me happy.......
The seawater hose..... I don't like that, again find out WHY!!!! maybe it needs to be routed differently? One season for a hose is not right......

so not feeling the love.....

Walt,
The hose isnt bent at any odd angles or stressed..... so its really odd... and the leak is because some inbreed ahole didnt do his job... and his mother or father that supervises him didnt do there job either.... I wanted searay to single out the j/o that was responsible for it . they do it if they do a good job... they should when they screw up on a unprecidented scale !

I just hope it all goes back together right ...

Rob

Rob......DON'T WORRY.... they'll use rubber coated sledge hammers.........they don't leave any marks!!!

Easy Rob. At least you have left the dock.

After a week delay due to the monsoon and high tides, they test ran my boat yesterday and blew one of the rebuilt turbos. Now IF the part comes overnight, they will install and test run again on Thursday. Of course, I have put off the carpet and couch guys until the engine work is done. They of course are not the usual marine industry types and were ready to install on their original due dates.

sigh

How bout heat, is it to close to something that gives of alot of heat? I just replaced my AC, and Gen saltwater hoses, they were not leaking but showed aging (cracks).

Sorry to hear that Mark, hopefully you will be running real soon and everything will be well and stay well :).

Walter

Mark, sorry to hear about the turbo. Especially since I just installed a rebuilt Detroit turbo in mine this weekend! I'm launching today, hopefully all goes well.

John,
Thanks. My understanding is that the part that went bad was acually installed new as part of the rebuild. Now I'm just waiting for the replacement part ( I guess the rest of the unit is ok) and they can give it another shot.

At least the electronics guy has been working on her.

Good luck on the launch.

Did they swap your old one for a rebuilt one or did they actually rebuild yours? I picked up a rebuilt one at Atlantic, had to swap some fittings off my old one and now need to package up the old one to return to them to get the 'core charge' back. If it's just a part they can change I'm thinking it probably isn't too bad of an issue.

Mark.....Sorry about the turbo .....that really sux.....at least its " their " problem not yours.

John..... your boat home yet ????

Don, supposed to go in at 3pm. I was there till 1am last night and midnight the night before finishing things up, hopefully I didn't forget anything.

They swapped it out. Unfortunately only one of the cores was good for a credit. The other was totally shot.

It wouldn't shock me if they reject my core also. I had an internal leak in the exhaust elbow and the turbo was filled with water on the exhaust side. Amazingly I had no problems and wouldn't have known about it if I didn't take it apart. There's a lot of corrosion where the elbow fits into the turbo, so we'll see if they take it. The core charge ended up being lower than they initially told me at least.

BTW, boat is home now! Got launched late this afternoon and ran it home from the Anchorage.

OJ,
That was not me. I am in the Anchorage. I am still on the hard, second boat in from the end by the gas dock.
I was up on the bow hosing it down, when I saw a nice big searay going out. As it went by, I saw the Bright Ayes name on the back.

Went on the safety cruise tonite with the power squadrons on Ms. Freeport... nice, cool nite and very hight tide.
