Trojan 440 Upgrades, Fixes and Ideas

For those that have taken the arch completely off. Does the windshield have to come off to completely remove the arch sail pannels?

My track in front is on top. Not sure about an al track, paint will wear off and corrode

I have removed all the seating on my boat, over the winter it will all be reupholstered, I can't wait to see it done!
I was hoping to drop the boat off to be hauled was they strip it out but the tides were not going to allow that so I brought it back to my slip and winterized the water systems. At this point I can complete the winterizing in about 2 hours. Sadly my season is over on the flip side we had a great season and already look forward to next year.

The boat looks naked!

Now this is quite something to see the boat like that!!!
Why did they not continue with the AC units in the cockpit siting I am not sure.

Allen. I don't remember where I saw it but I did see where someone who replaced their saloon unit with a quiter one put the old unit under the port seat and ducted it out to the cockpit.

I was thinking about adding a unit for the cockpit if it would fit under that seat I might just do it, plumbing it might be an issue being it is over the guest stateroom.

John I need to either replace or fix my saloon unit anyway. My compressor makes terrible notice and last night I found it doesn't hit at all. $666 part. They told me in marine air they will not take the compressor back once it shipped, I thought it was very wired.
As Dave mentioned if I get my dad here for enough time I will have a unit for the cockpit as well. I think the 16,000 btu is a little too much for that though.

Interesting, on mine there was no access to the BIG space under the port seats, I cut in a couple of hatches to get to that storage space, under my starboard seat I have an EL panel for the electronics behind two doors in front and a bar in back. I also mounted wedges under the seats to make them lean back a little to be more comfy to sit in, big diff.
I did see pictures of one that had an AC under one of the seats. My ACs are under the port locker in the master an one under the seat in the cabin. Fortunately we don't have to run them much here in the NW they are a little noisy. My diesel fired heater that pumps hot water to radiator thru out the boat is more important and no noise#128522;

Here you go... More differences :-)
I have huge storage under the mid seat on the port side. It slides out and there is a ton of space. Under the port double seat I opened a hatch as well, I have 6 tool boxes there. My ac's are at the same locations as yours Odvar but we used them a lot this summer, intact in July I never turned the ac units off. $160 in electric bill from the marina.
Scott Dickman who owns "imagine" have an ac unit under that seat in the cockpit.

Unscrewed it from the bottom keep in mind mine is a little different then yours because of the power slide. However I'm sure it is mounted the same. There were two sets of screws first set can be reached from the front doors above the breakers the second set I had to remove the panel behind the breakers to reach the screws but if I recall your cabinet is different then mine so this may be harder for you.

I can't wait to see this completed it's going to look like a new boat:)

Removed the sub woofer under the seat and the guy had long arms to reach all the nuts. That side was much easier!

That would be some long arms. I had considered that but thought there would be no way to reach that far.

Looking at your pics, it looks like you use your storage under the pull out lounge. Do you find it useful? I had thought about mounting an air compressor for inflating rafts and dinghy. Might be a good place for a water maker as well. I also would not mind having the water heater there instead of in the engine room if I could find one to fit.

I just keep life jackets in there. I think I may cut an access door for storage under the companion seat that is if I dont decide to install a n ac unit there.

Well after 6 months I finally finished the anchor locker and windlass rebuild and one again have a working anchor. There were a few things I still need to do but involve sealant and it is now to cold. I have new foot pedals to install as well as a couple of areas to touch up paint in the locker. Here are a few photos

Nice job! Mine is still in good shape I hope not to need to take on this project for a long time. I have enough on my plate this year.

When was the last time you put oil in your windlass gear case? Mine was bone dry. Not a drop in it. No grease under the captain either.

Need to service my windless, I greased it earlier this year. Your anchor locker looks REALLY nice John. Good work. I had to do a minor tach up in the anchor room but generally it is in good shape,
