BM vs Finese it II

I will tell you that Pro Polish does haze or leave a milky substance on Carver gelcoats. I have experienced this and directly from the old owner of Yacht Brite he claims it does too. I have had great luck with Leverage or Rejex.

It's all relative of course. Finesse-It on an orbital with a foam pad will improve an oxidized, dull surface as good or better than many other techniques and products. I have used it to get into tough corners or tight spaces when I don't want to worry about a spinning pad. However, when a surface is perfect: the reflection of the sun is a well-defined fine point, the gloss is uniform and the shine is deep, an orbital has a negative effect.

It probably doesn't matter to people without a slight mental disorder about shining gelcoat... :D
 
I think Newbie needs a nap from all the waxing. He's getting cranky.

Strange! But then, I've never waxed a Carver with it, and I'm actually not a huge fan of it anyway. I'm still 80% convinced that it's the automotive "Nu Finish" in a different bottle at 4x the price....
 
I have the same feeling. I haven't worked up enough courage to just flat out ask if its Nu-Finish or not. They both have the same effect on Carver gelcoat though....
 
Thanks Tim! The bottle was brand new bought it from BoatFix. I'm getting my second wind now that I had my NAP and will see what happens tomorrow. Next year, WAX.

Can you tell me a little bit about Leverage or Rejax (i.e. where do you get it, how do you apply/remove it, which do you like better). I have a 355 Motoryacht. Collinte also leaves a milky finish on Carvers. Thanks.
 
And wax will yellow your gel coat and when it gets hot and melts, attracts dirt.
 
Google Leverage Polish or Rejex. There are many suppliers to buy it from online. With the leverage I buff with Buff Magic and a white whool pad and follow with the leverage per their instructions (Spray on to clean terry cloth towel and apply, when it hazes up wipe with a clean terry cloth towel). Very easy.

I think we beat this form to death, however, I think it is healthy and helpful to get everyones opinion, then we can choose who we wnat to follow. Either it will work, or it won't.
 
My brother has a '95 Carver 355 aft cabin. Pro Polish didn't haze or dull his gel coat. It shines like new.
 
I'll second and third the BM/PP. BM works great, I used a Mothers Powerball on my small bowrider, it really brought it back to a showroom shine. PP seems to work, but I just don't like the way it feels, you don't get that just waxed slick feel that I get from my 3m Wax. It shines, just doesn't "feel good" (can wax feel good?). Almost feels gooey going on.
